The US FDA has approved the first generic version of Viagra to be available in the country in a few weeks. But, the company is now warning that Viagra is available only through a prescription.

Viagra is the world's first drug to work as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. Its patent covering the brand-name drug expired in 2012. Sales of Viagra have fallen sharply since then, as the patent has expired, and sales of generic versions have slowed to a halt. The generic version of Viagra is not available on the market until April 1, 2017.
But a small group of men filed a similar lawsuit against Pfizer over Viagra's safety concerns, alleging that the company knew about the potential risks of using Viagra for men with impotence or other conditions.

A new study claims that the best way to treat erectile dysfunction is through a prescription.
The study, by Dr. Emily Thompson of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Sheffield, tested the new approach with the help of a random sample of patients with erectile dysfunction.

"We found that the most effective treatment for erectile dysfunction for the study group was Viagra," Thompson said. "This finding is important because there is not yet a cure for this condition. If you are looking for a solution that will work for you, then Viagra could be the solution for you."
Dr. Thompson is a leading researcher in the field of urology, but she said she is still looking for ways to improve the quality of erectile function.
"This is the first time we have demonstrated the effectiveness of Viagra for patients with erectile dysfunction, and we believe that this is the most effective treatment for this condition," Dr. Thompson said.
Viagra is one of the most widely used drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men, and is also effective in helping men with impotence.
Thompson said that the researchers found that Viagra helped them to achieve better erections, but it did not do the same for the patients who took it.
